What is Maoshan Tao?

  • Dynamic Meditation exercises that stimulates and fills the energetic three tantiens unlike most school utilizing only one tantien: “Chi”. Maoshan Tao employs a three-step process derived from an ancient, almost extinct[*] “root” energetic discipline designed to give accelerated physical healing, peace of mind and energetic balance.
  • Modern Maoshan practice was developed by Sifu Andrew Lum. After many years of study in traditional Maoshan, Sifu Lum sought to find a way to distill the benefits of these exercises into a simple “root” practice. This distilled form of Maoshan multiplies the “Chi” factor exponentially using three tantiens. The end result is simple, yet powerful energetic principles which distills this energetic power into one simple, easy, safe and effective health practice.

Maoshan vs. Traditional Internal Arts

  • Sifu Andrew Lum designed the 5 Element Sets as a prelude to facilitate practice to traditional internal disciplines of highly advanced Tai Chi[**] or Maoshan Tao Kung Fu. Traditional internal arts can be very complex to master. The physical stances demand a great deal of physical strength along with a precise mental concentration in order to generate sufficient collective “Energy” to be effective. This process can take many years. The 5 Element Sets employs a taller, more natural stance with tighter, more fluid hand arcs which channels energy through energy pathways more quickly. In the advance stages you will learn the advanced Maoshan Sets which is a completely different experience and not related to the 5 Element Sets.
  • Sifu Lum specifically chosen by Lum Dai Yun to began his training in Maoshan Tao before the age of 10, becoming the greatest martial arts master of the mid 20th Century and 21st Century. Sifu Lum became Sijyo when he founded Tao-Ga Kung Fu (Chinese Martial Arts Academy) while also perfecting advance Tai Chi Sets as seen below.
  • *(Almost extinct) **(Tai Chi) – explanations during your first class.
  • Traditional internal kung fu systems primarily channel energy through the lower tan tien (Navel). This type of Chi is similar to creating a bubble-like protective sphere around the body. Traditional internal styles, such as Tai Chi, Xing Yi or Pa Kua give the practitioner an almost impenetrable energetic armor making them highly resistant to normal human attack. Their punches and strikes can also have a deep, penetrating power that can crush bones or damage internal organs.
  • Maoshan, on the other hand, channels concentrated “Chi” energy through all three tantien (Navel, Heart and 3rd Eye) simultaneously which gives the practitioner the ability to “slice” through a person’s energy fields. When a Maoshan practitioner touches an attacker, it delivers a “Taser-like” electric shock that penetrates deep into the body shutting down the autonomic nervous system. When done correctly, there is no physical defense to this type of energy. Maoshan has been tested in real-life situations against masters of traditional internal and external martial arts systems. Maoshan principles can be learned by anyone of any age. As far as we know, Maoshan is the quickest and most effective means of self-defense today.

Disadvantage of Belief?

Some people may believe this kind of energy usage is possibly unconnected to the reality of the phenomenon. Some people may believe this kind of energy usage is possible and some may believe it is not possible. Either of these efforts is disconnected from the reality of the phenomenon. More people used to believe the earth was flat than round. Today, more people believe the earth is round than flat. Neither of these beliefs affects the actual shape of the planet. Those explorers who sailed around the world either way. They knew! We urge students not to hold on to unnecessary thought structures, the maintenance of which ties up considerable energy that could be put to more productive use. Rather, we encourage them to experience this energy shaping method directly for themselves and expand their knowledge. At the Maoshan Tao Institute, we demonstrate in real-time “The World of Metaphysics” to believers, disbelievers and non-believers alike.
